Self-Taught Art

Rodney Hardee

Rodney Hardee's paintings convey his affability. Like many self-taught artists, Hardee's paintings lack the illusion of depth and the colors are applied without graduation. But his pleasingpaintings, whether depictions of Adam and Eve or a barking dog, a perched owl, cat face, or Madonna, were accented with gracefully climbing vines. Hardee seemed happy to leave angst-ridden imagery to other, more tortured souls.
